Andrea “Drea” Sobke

Owner, she/her

Andrea is a Mexican-American life-long dancer and movement artist from San Diego, California. Drea took her first ballet class when she was three years old and hasn't stopped exploring movement since. Drea was first introduced to Pilates through her BFA program at Chapman University. After only a few classes, she began to see the benefits of Pilates in her dance technique and in her daily life. Needless to say, she was hooked. Pilates greatly impacted Drea's life, not only by improving her dancing, but in educating her body on proper biomechanics, thus keeping her healthy throughout her rigorous dance career.

In 2007, Drea became a Certified Pilates Instructor for mat and apparatus through Body Arts and Science International (BASI), under the instruction of master trainer Rael Isacowitz. Soon after, she attained an additional certification in Pre-Natal and Post Partum Pilates through The Center for Women’s Fitness by master trainer Carolyn Anthony. Her studies on treating Lumbar Lordosis were published by BASI in 2012. In 2020, Drea completed her teaching certification for the Gyrotonic® Expansion System.

Drea's teaching method has evolved from her traditional Pilates days. While still heavily focused on breathe, strength and mobility, Drea also incorporates principles from Alexander Technique and functional physical therapy methods to offer a unique movement experience to her clients. Not just to have a fit body, but to also have a restored and happy body. Through meticulous instruction, Drea explores new methods of Pilates pedagogy with her clients and believes that there is always more to learn and discover in this ever evolving practice. Drea is happy to share her passion for Pilates and movement with clients of all ages and levels of fitness.
